beethoven

i just heard someone playing 'joyful, joyful we adore thee' on a flute as they walked down the street.  it made me smile.  i have been pretty sick for a few days now hence the lack of updates.  my body really doesn't seem to like Nicaragua all that much.  tomorrow i'll be talking to a doctor in the US, so hopefully I can figure out something.
anyhow, let's see what I've left out about the past few days:
thursday- more Spanish class in the morning.  we walked to a fort in Granada as well.  in the afternoon we watched a movie that was in Spanish, but it had English subtitles, so I don't think my Spanish got much practice.
friday- in the morning instead of sitting in the classroom, we made our way to one of the neighborhoods on the outskirts of town and met a woman who has been making tortillas by hand for 26 years to support her family.  she works 6 days a week and sells the tortillas to neighbors and at the market.  michelle & i got to try our hand at making tortillas- it was quite interesting.
friday afternoon we had our dancing class- i believe it was a mix of salsa & meringue.  they brought in two european ex-students to be our partners since michelle is so tall.  it worked out well since they two guys knew about as much as we did.  it ended up being quite the lesson and much fun.
ok, more later.  time for my daily cold shower.
